Martinique: upgrade and construction of public transit lanes
> Description du projet
The idea is to design and execute the layout of lateral lanes reserved for public transit, adjacent to the A1 and RN1 motorways:
between Fort de France (Dillon interchange) and the Lamentin Canal (A1 RN1 interchange): bilaterally to the A1 (approximately 4.2 km) to make the most of the widening (to 2x3 lanes)
between the Lamentin minor interchange and the Mahault crossroads: bilaterally to the RN1 (approximately 1.2 km) to make the most of the widening (to 2x2 lanes)
between the Lamentin minor interchange and the airport interchange: laterally to the A1 running from the airport to the Lamentin Canal (approximately 2.2 km), while shifting the axis of the A1 and establishing the platform (no widening planned)
Project's main characteristics include:
study area specifics : strong urban periphery nature, high number of interchanges (7), very high traffic levels (A1 saturated), crossing of the Mangrove
operation tasks : taking advantage of the A1 / RN1 widening, of the general traffic conditions, reversibility and open-ended nature of the development
application of guiding principles : independence of the public transit and passenger vehicle traffic, safety conditions, the project's accessibility and integration into the site
the dedicated public transit lanes, placed laterally to the passenger vehicle lanes in the straight sections, extend to the entrance / exit ramps leading to / from the interchanges : the crossroads will undergo a specific treatment (geometry, signalling,...)
