Poland: A4 Krzywa - Wroclaw motorway section

> Description du projet

The project concerns the reconstruction of the A4 (E40) motorway between Krzywa and Wroclaw which is route N°3 in the Trans-European Motorway Network (Berlin/Dresden - Kiew corridor) crossing Poland from West to East. This 90 km long section is divided into 3 works lots:

  • Section I: Wadroze - Wroclaw (Southern Carriageway : 38.6 km)
  • Section II: Krzywa - Waddroze (Northern Carriageway : 43 km); Krzywa - Legnica (Southern Carriageway: 30 km)
  • Section III: Legnica - Wroclaw (Northern Carriageway : 62 km)

The project involved reconstruction of 3 sections of 2 carriageways (2 lanes) of the A4 motorway. The reconstruction comprises break-up of the existing concrete or bituminous pavement on both carriageways of the motorway and construction (using recovered materials) of a new concrete pavement, break-up of the old structures and construction of 39 new bridges and 54 culverts, construction and repair of drainage elements, earthworks, provision and environmental measures, traffic safety facilities, construction of lighting for 8 interchanges, relocation of existing utilities infrastructures.

The operation includes:

  • break-up of existing carriageway: 880,000 m²
  • excavations: 1,800,000 m3
  • concrete pavement works: 1,600,000 m²
  • construction of 41 new bridges and 52 culverts

This project will be executed by preserving continuity of traffic, which will entail complex traffic management. Construction works is to last 50 months.

Egis Route provides following services:

  • Assistance to the Client in the following fields: participation in evaluating contractors' bids, institutional organization, scheduling, budgets, building permits, land acquisition, relocation of utilities networks, relations with local authorities, reporting to the Polish Administration and to Financing Institutions (EU, EIB); dealing with the contractors' claims.
  • Representing the Project Manager: reviewing the design proposed to the contractors, assessing construction risks and making recommendations to modify or adapt the design; preparation and application of a quality insurance and checking system; controlling schedules and costs; construction supervision, approval of the contractor's monthly statements; acceptance of works and equipment; final settlement; final reports and maintenance manuals.
  • Provision of training services for polish staff.
