Algeria: a 60.4 M€ contract awarded to Egis Route

Egis Route - Scetauroute has won a major management and construction supervision contract for the East - West motorway project in Algeria (West Section). Located in the northern part of the country, this 1,216-km 2x3-lane motorway is expected to implement traffic congestion solutions as well as enhance security standards of the present network.

The 359 km long West Section, awarded to Egis Route - Scetauroute, links the western limit of the Chlef wilaya (region) to the Moroccan border. The Chinese construction consortium CITIC-CRCC is in charge of the works.

Egis Route - Scetauroute will contract (mostly locally) about 400 employees and will provide them with a specific training program.

In September 2006, a first contract for the toll and operating equipment studies of the whole East - West motorway was awarded to Egis Route and Egis Mobilité.

This new contract will increase the existing activity of Egis in Algeria in roads, motorways, railways, airports, urban and water transport projects: an exciting challenge for the group.

In 2008, Algeria is expected to be our biggest market in the field of overseas engineering activities.
